Colleague Collaborations

News links, ezines, e-newsletters, blogs...they all keep us informed, but which education information areas do you actually spend time reading their updates and/or sending in your comments or reflections to their sites?

One of the most interactive discussion areas I frequent is the Linkedin Groups site. Linkedin sends you e-mail updates (if you wish) on current discussion topic posts so you can easily follow the comments from colleagues around the world. I have recently added new applications and methods to my online instruction by reading these posts.

Currently, the Linkedin Technology-Using Professors group is discussing online strategies which translate to student retention in their online courses. The posts are laden with practical tips for faculty who want to increase successful online student learning.

The Chronicle's Wired Campus and Edutopia's ezines also allow online instructors to see reviews on new applications and instructional techniques to assist faculty in online or technology enhanced instruction.

Do you have a discussion area or ezine you would like to share? We're open to ideas which help us grow and enrich our professional development.
