Distance Learning Update:
A news article from the Chronicle of Higher Education summarized a new report from the Sloan Consortium. The report (Online Nation: Five Years of Growth in Online Learning) found that enrollment in online distance education outpaced general college-enrollment growth. Their statistics revealed that 3.5 million people took at least one online course (Fall 2006), an increase from 3.2 million from the year before (9.7 percent increase) . The article stated that online education is growing faster than general college enrollment, which grew by only 1.3 percent from 2005 to 2006.
